Steve Waitt

Bio

Five years ago Steve Waitt left New Orleans and made his way to Brooklyn. Quickly making company with the cities finest producers and artists, he developed his own mix of alt-folk and indie rock. Steve’s is a rich multi-layered music with lyric-driven songs at its heart. Although constantly growing and searching new ways to bring his songs to bear, his roots remain squarely planted in blues, jazz and folk.
Today he fronts what Stomp and Stammer Magazine calls ‘a dangerously good band’, and regularly packs them in at Manhattan’s most respected venues. Turning a corner with the season, Steve is set to release his newest and most anticipated work to date. Available in September, the five song EP broaching his expansive and eclectic sound, is the follow up to his debut album ‘Blue Parade’. For this he teamed up with local producer Chris Cubeta and an impressive roster of musicians. The result is a collection of songs as stirring and textured as the journey he has traveled to find them.

In Steve’s new record, as with his live shows, there is a contrast between the contemplative and the impulsive. An emotional, juxtaposing blend of thoughtful lyrics and passionate melodies tell the story of Steve’s life. His work revisits the long road traveled from singing in huts by a Mexican beach to his time in the New Orleans French Quarter.

Never one to sit still too long Steve is touring again, this time coming to 8 countries in Europe spread out over May and June. Along side with be his friend and songstress, Liz Clark, as well as a 5 piece band composed of an all-star band of musicians from across Europe.
